Enshrouded thrusts you into a hostile environment, putting the fate of Embervale in your hands. So, it’s best not to go in empty-handed. There are plenty of weapons to loot or craft, and every weapon has its advantages and disadvantages. Understanding all the Enshrouded weapon types can make it easier for you to build a certain playstyle around your class. So, let’s dig in on all the possible weapons in the game and how well (or not so well) they work.
List Of Enshrouded Weapon Types
As you play Enshrouded, you’ll notice that there are three main types of weapons:
- Melee
- Ranged
- Magical
Depending on how you want to take down your enemies, one type might work better for you. As you set out in the world, you’ll come to understand what feels right for your character. But it never hurts to acknowledge the pros and cons of each Enshrouded weapon type beforehand.
Melee Weapons in Enshrouded
A melee weapon is your go-to when you want to get up close and personal with the enemy. How effective they are depends on you and the specific type of melee weapon you choose in Enshrouded. Some of your main choices are Swords, Axes, Spears/Polearms, Clubs, and Hammers.
Swords
- Advantage: Great in close combat | Effective for quick combat
- Disadvantage: Lacking in damaging power compared to other melee weapons
Swords are ideal when you want to get in fast while still having prime maneuverability. They’re straightforward to use, and they come in handy if you’re stuck in close quarters. Just note that they don’t cause as much harm as other weapons like Axes.
Axes
- Advantage: Inflicts great damage that can break through armor
- Disadvantage: Heavy and often slow
Axes are a great weapon type in Enshrouded for armor-piercing qualities. They leave behind devastating damage, making them perfect for classes like Tanks. Do know that wielding them isn’t always easy since they’re not the fastest or lightest weapons. So, don’t plan to use one to quickly take down numerous enemies.
Spears/Polearms
- Advantage: Keeps enemies at a distance
- Disadvantage: Not good in close combat
Are you eager to jab at people without too much risk to yourself? Then get yourself a type of spear weapon in Enshrouded. They’re fun to manage a few enemies at once, making them great for crowd control. However, don’t think about bringing them in close-quarter situations.
Clubs and Hammers
- Advantage: Straightforward to handle | Cause great damage
- Disadvantage: Requires strength to wield | Can be slow
We grouped Clubs and Hammers in Enshrouded as they function largely the same. They’re blunt and heavy weapons. Some are designed to pierce armor, while others are geared toward smashing and bashing. All of them leave behind remarkable damage. They’re not too difficult to learn, but you need strength to swing them around.
Ranged Weapons in Enshrouded
Ranged weapon types in Enshrouded are key when you’re after long-range or stealth-based attacks. They keep you relatively out of harm’s way, which is excellent if your character lacks some defense. The game features two primary types of ranged weapons of the non-magical variety: Bows and Throwables.
Bows
- Advantage: Remarkable for long-range combat | Great for stealth
- Disadvantage: Tough to master | Ammunition
Live out your archery dreams in Enshrouded once you get your hands on a Bow. They’re great when you want to play assassin too, leaving you safely hidden as you pick off ignorant enemies. Note that the auto-aim function doesn’t always line up where you want, so proper manual aiming is required. Also, ammunition can become a hindering factor as you grind for resources to craft arrows.
Throwables
- Advantage: Easy and fast to use
- Disadvantage: Not useful for mobs or heavily-armored foes
Throwables like Slings are nice to use for some quick and effective shots. Use them on weaker enemies or those with minimal armor, and you can do some good damage. They’re fast, but you need good accuracy to make them work for you. Some can cause area damage, while others are more for a single target. Remember they’re not the best for tougher enemies.

How To Heal in EnshroudedMagical Weapons in Enshrouded
Magical weapons are another good type if you want to keep away from the enemy in Enshrouded. We’re lucky too because there are a few different ways we can stretch our wizard or witch wings in the game: Staves, Wands, and Spells.
Staves
- Advantage: Area-of-effect spells | Great for healing
- Disadvantage: Requires time to set up
What’s a spellcaster without a staff? Staves are the epitome of casting, and they work well to damage and debuff enemies, heal you or your allies, and tackle numerous opponents at once. Because of the energy required, Staves aren’t quick so you need enough casting time to use them.
Wands
- Advantage: Good for preicse and quick spells
- Disadvantage: Not good for area attacks
Wands are your fast weapons when you want to shoot out spells. They work wonders for precision damage with direct spells, and their casting time is far shorter than with a Stave. However, they don’t work for the area attacks like Staves do.
Spells
Concerning Spells, there are no general advantages and disadavantages over them. They’re used as off-hand weapons for spellcasters, offering support with a Wand or Stave.
It’s vital to learn how to wield weapons when you start Enshrouded. Once you develop your personal style, you can adapt to any disadvantages a weapon type has and focus on making the benefits work in your favor.
