Her driver was pulled over by the police, and while Aladdin doesn’t specify what was wrong, what mattered to her had already been ruined: She was 15 minutes late.
The Student Says Uber Didn’t Refund Her for the Ride
If that wasn’t bad enough, Aladdin says she was refused a refund for the ride that made her late. Uber apologized for the incident and admitted it wasn’t a good experience for her, yet declined to offer a refund. Aladdin didn’t clarify whether her driver arrived, but since she got to class just 15 minutes late, she likely used the same Uber ride.
Still, that encounter with the police plus the refund refusal was enough for her experience to earn a place in r/mildlyinfuriating, where over ten thousand people tuned into the drama. Of course, dozens of people slammed Uber for not refunding her, mocking the customer service’s apologetic response followed by no actual appeasement. One person claimed Aladdin would need to shame the company publicly first before it would actually take action on her behalf.
Besides the refund, another main point of contention was the Uber driver being pulled over. As noted earlier, there was no mention of whether he was detained, but people still felt something was untrustworthy about the driver. “Uber is letting anyone who can fog up a mirror drive for them right now,” said a commenter.
Some argued that the police might have been the ones being troublesome, though there isn’t enough information to blame either the cop or the driver.
