A mother in Cabot, Arkansas, was horrified to discover her daughter’s hair had been dyed purple. According to her, her ex’s girlfriend dyed her daughter’s hair purple behind her back and without her consent.
Serenity Dailey (Ren) shared the story of her daughter’s hair on TikTok. She is a lifestyle content creator who, as of recently, found herself in the middle of the aforementioned family drama. The first clip of the bunch went viral, as it garnered 6.6 million views, 672,100 likes, and more than 29,700 comments.
After introducing herself, the Arkansas woman provided some background to the story. She said that she is currently co-parenting with her daughter’s father. The man is currently in a relationship with another woman, who quickly became the antagonist of Ren’s story.
“Today I learned that his girlfriend dyed the entire underneath of my child’s hair purple,” Ren said. She captioned the video, “Without my permission!” and wrote in the description, “I’m just bamboozled at this point.”
The upset mother described her daughter’s natural hair as “beautiful red ginger.” She has never received a haircut, and Ren told her, since the day she was born, that she won’t touch her hair until she turns 18. Her daughter is four.
She added, “Because if you’re smart, you know that hair does not need to be tampered with.”
Ren then asked how to deal with her co-parenting situation as well as her daughter’s now-dyed hair. She made sure to show her daughter’s purple hair in one of her follow-ups.
Varied Reactions
Lots of viewers reacted somewhat negatively to her video, saying that the girl’s father or the child herself could make the call about her hair. One said, “Not letting her do what she wants with HER hair until she’s 18 is insane.” Another one commented, “What does SHE want? It’s her body. Not yours. I support the gf.”
In a follow-up, the Arkansas woman clarified that her daughter was four and not a teenager. The comments were more supportive this time around. One wrote, “Doesn’t matter her age. New girlfriend OVERSTEPPED. Period.” Another one added, “Girl, go to court about this.”
Ren’s ex and her partner shared a video of their own, to which Ren issued a response. The mother has since been blocked by them.
