As we approach the second month of 2018 it is time once again for Microsoft to announce what freebies they will be providing to Xbox owners with a Gold Xbox Live subscription. February 2018’s Games With Gold promotion features a couple of swashbuckling titles and a couple where you will put the pedal to the metal.

For the entire month of February, Shadow Warrior will be free for Xbox One. It is the 2013 remake of the 1997 FPS with the same name. The game sees players filling the shoes of a contemporary ninja. Gamers will find themselves fighting off waves of demonic hordes. While any self-respecting ninja is reliant on the katana, a modern arsenal of machine guns and shotguns are also at your disposal.

February’s Games With Gold also features death by blade in Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India. The Chronicles subseries from the more established franchise has 2.5D side-scrolling gameplay. At first take, it appears to almost be a more current version of the original Prince of Persia Classic. AC Chronicles: India will be free on Xbox One between February 16 and March 15.

Racing is the name of the game for the Games With Gold on Xbox 360 in February. February 1 to 15 will have Split/Second available for free. The core concept of the game is that drivers can build the ability to control their environment through stunts during a race. This allows them to the trigger environmental obstacles against the other racers in this reality type television show. The second half of February features Crazy Taxi as a 360 free game. The classic arcade racer was a hit on the Sega Dreamcast and later on subsequent consoles. The concept is simple. Get your passenger from point A to point B in a set period of time. It does not matter how you do that or how your driving is. Time is all that matters.
