Horizon Zero Dawn, the PlayStation exclusive that took the gaming community by storm, is receiving its first DLC, “The Frozen Wilds”. The expansion will be releasing on November 7th, 2017; just in time for the winter season.

The newest expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn was announced at E3 just a few months ago. According to the PlayStation blog, “The Frozen Wilds” is “set in icy territories to the north, this new chapter of Aloy’s journey adds a new area to explore, new mysteries to uncover and new, highly lethal machines to take on.” While most travel to the frozen lands to hunt the unique machines there, Aloy is there for answers. In search of these answers, Aloy finds herself up against an unstable volcano and an ancient evil.

From screenshots taken in the trailer above, fans of the game suspect that “The Frozen Wilds” will take place in Wyoming; Yellowstone National Park specifically. For those of you who don’t know, there is a caldera in Yellowstone that is classified as a supervolcano. The large, volcanic eruptions from these types of volcanoes are catastrophic to human life. It looks like this caldera might have quite a bit to do with whatever Aloy is still searching for through this expansion.

Upon release, the DLC will be $19.99 through the PlayStation Store. However, the special pre-order price is $14.99 and also includes an exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn avatar for your account. In the meantime, fans of the game can enjoy the New Game+ update from a few weeks ago. PlayStation has promised that more information will be released the closer we get to the DLC’s release.
