For years, LeBron James has made it very clear that one of his career goals is to play with his son, Bronny James. However, he never stated where or how he would play alongside his oldest son. Not everyone agreed with the amount of influence James had over the Lakers’ draft room, although they brought Bronny to LA. Soon after that, LBJ signed a maximum contract extension with the Lakers for $100 million over two years.
According to Out Kick, recently, former NBA player Steven Huntly boldly stated that Bronny James’ multi-year fully guaranteed rookie contract was “gifted to him” instead of earned. Huntly then implied that Lebron James got his son the contract, as well as abused his power over the franchise.
Many Believe LeBron James Gave Bronny James a Roster Spot on the Lakers
“For those that don’t know… Late second-round picks don’t get guarantees (especially before summer league ),” Hunter posted. “Typically, late second-round picks don’t get four-year guaranteed roster spot deals either. This wasn’t earned, I’m sorry… And it’s an egregious abuse of power from LBJ [LeBron James] & Rich Paul. It’s a slap in the face to all of the kids out there who work their a**es off to get to the league. It’s sneaky Hollywood s**t like this that turns a lot of people off about LeBron.”
Bronny James has been playing on the Lakers’ summer league team for the past week, and it has not been a pretty sight for the young man. Aside from playing time, James Jr. has yet to record double digits in any stat. However, LeBron James is convinced his son is ready for the NBA.
LeBron James said that his son’s mind is “NBA-ready.” However, it seems like his body and the way he plays the game are not. Will Bronny James be able to overcome these accusations? Or will he continue to underperform? Only time will tell.
