To start off 2019 right, Nintendo is offering deals on many games for Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS. This sale runs from January 3rd, 2019 – 8:59 AM PT on January 10th, 2019. These sales are available online and also at GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, and Target.

52 of Nintendo’s games are currently marked down. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch is now $41.99 (was $59.99). Kirby: Triple Deluxe for the 3DS is now $13.99 (was $19.99). There is also a hefty markdown for the 3DS’s Final Fantasy Explorers,  now $19.99 (was $39.99).

Other games with reduced prices include Starlink: Battle for Atlas Digital Edition, Mario Party: The Top 100, Octopath Traveler, LEGO DC Super-Villians, 3D Sonic the  Hedgehog 2, Yoshi’s New Island, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, Flat Heroes, Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle, Horizon Chase Turbo, Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, Puyo Puyo Tetris, LEGO Harry Potter Collection, Wandersong, and NAMCO MUSEUM.

It is exciting to see such a wide variety of games included in this discount. Video games typically only go on sale after being on shelves for quite a while, and even then the markdowns aren’t much. They are a form of entertainment that doesn’t lose much value over time and so are always in demand until their system is long considered obsolete. Buying games digitally tends to lead to better sales given there are no packaging costs to calculate.

For fans looking to dive into some new adventures this year, this Nintendo sale is certainly worth checking out. Or, if Santa got you a gift card for Nintendo’s eShop, here is a chance to get a bigger bang for your buck. Play as your long-time favorite characters, try out someone new, battle friends, or go through a single player story on all these titles. What better way can one start the new year?
