O.J. Simpson’s family confirmed his heartbreaking demise via an announcement on his X page. In a statement signed by the clan, they celebrated the patriarch’s legacy and shared details about his final moments.
On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
The statement continued with the Simpson family seeking privacy during the extremely difficult time. The late Simpson kept details of his cancer battle super private. However, fans first got wind of his health troubles earlier this year, in February.
At the time, Local 10 News in Miami confirmed that Simpson was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas. However, the former footballer denied speculations that his health troubles landed him in hospice. He took to X to share a video of himself looking cheerful.

O. J. Simpson’s death comes just two months after he shared what would be his final video ever taken. In the clip shared before the Super Bowl, the sports legend seemingly confirmed his health. troubles for the first time.
While sitting on what looked like a wheelchair, Simpson assured fans that all was well with him, saying:
Thank you to all the people who reached out to me. My health is good. Obviously I’m dealing with some issues, but I think I’m just about over it, and I’ll be back on that golf course hopefully in a couple of weeks.”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t true. Many fans have since taken to social media to mourn Simpson’s loss. One fan penned, “Heaven just gained another angel,” while another wrote, “Good night, sweet prince. It is unfortunate he never got to learn who murdered his wife before his passing.”
