As Prince Harry embarks on his long-anticipated visit to the UK for the WellChild Awards, speculations about his meeting with King Charles and Prince William run wild. The world got a hint of the royal rift in 2020 after Harry and his wife Meghan Markle made their controversial exit from the royal family and unleashed allegations against the institution in major interviews and documentaries. This further drove a wedge between Harry and his dad, and even brother Prince William.
This feud seemed to reach a turning point in September when the royals paid tribute to Prince Harry on his 40th birthday on social media. For many, this seemed like an open invitation to a reconciliation from King Charles and Prince William. Prince Harry’s latest trip to the UK, the first since turning 40, naturally seems like an avenue to make that reunion, and possible reconciliation come through.
Would Prince Harry Reunite With King Charles and Prince William In the UK?
No word about a meeting with the monarch has surfaced either from Harry’s team or the palace, which could be an indication that the reconciliatory talks were merely wishful thinking. Sources with direct knowledge have attested to this, claiming there was no meeting or reunion in the books for either King Charles or his son Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex would have no such luck with his big brother either. Sources claimed Prince William has no intention of clearing time in his diary to meet with Harry, as he remains focused on work and family. While this failure of King Charles and Prince William to meet with Harry this week may seem like a repeat of history, this time, the circumstances seem to be truly unavoidable.
Timing a Major Factor in Failed UK Reunion
While Prince Harry touched down in London on a brief visit to honor the WellChild Awards, King Charles remains nestled in Balmoral Castle in faraway Scotland, where he attended the Scottish Parliament’s 25th anniversary over the weekend. He and his wife Queen Camilla would remain in Scotland until the king is cleared to travel back later this week.
However, given that Prince Harry only has one engagement lined up on his UK visit, he would most likely be long gone before King Charles jets back to London. Hence, the timing plays a major role in Harry’s inability to reunite with his dad this time.
During his last visit to his home country, the estranged prince, who has made no secret of his desire to reconcile with his dad faced a huge disappointment when his dad turned down their request to meet. A representative at the time announced that King Charles would not meet with Harry as planned due to the monarch’s busy schedule. The glaring snub showed just how sour the royal rift had become. This time, things are different though, with various parties from the royal fold more interested in orchestrating a reconciliation than they have been in years.
