They’re trying to do their job

As workers were trying to fix up an Arizona street and do their job, they were confronted by a busybody Karen. The woman approached them complaining about the work that was being conducted in the neighborhood where she lives. Fortunately, the road worker wasn’t about to just let operations come to an end because of her displeasure.

TikTok user Elcompa_duchy shared the confrontation online, as well as being one of the road workers trying to do their job. An elderly woman is arguing with Elcompa, whose crew is trying to get some road work done.

He tries to tell the irate local he’s “just going to be here a couple of minutes” as he gets tools together for the job. You can see an active construction site off in the distance. He tells her he’s just trying to do his job and says, “I’m not blocking your driveway. I’m not blocking anybody’s driveway.”

Elcompa airs his grievances, saying he didn’t like the “way she came up to him” and started immediately confront them and, at one point, putting her hands on him. She stutters, “I didn’t like that you walked right by me when I stopped you because you weren’t gonna talk to me.”

He tries to tell her that she went about things the wrong way and acted too confrontational. She continues to keep things going, telling him, “These are not city streets. This is private.”

Though Elcompa explains the city owns everything, while laughing, the harassment from the neighborhood Karen continues. She says, “We pay for these roads to get asphalt. Everything. It’s private. It’s not a city road.”

The worker asks, “How come the city is paying me to pave the sidewalks, then?” She tries to tell him that he’s wrong and replies, “Not here! We pay $300 a month for these roads!”

The neighborhood Karen was slammed online for being nosy and entitled

The response online wasn’t to the local woman’s favor, even less so when Elcompa shared that she put her hands on him. “She put her hands on him because he wouldn’t stop and talk to her???? That’s crazy,” wrote a TikTok user. Elcompa liked the comment.

Some were stunned by the local’s ignorance. “I don’t think she understands that the city contracts this man to fix the street!” Elcompa responded to the post, where he shared he could “close down the whole street” due to him having the “city’s permission.” It appears he only marked off a portion of the road and yet the woman was stilled irritated.

When someone suggested Elcompa call the police, he shared in the comment section he allegedly told the woman to do the same. “She didn’t want to,” he says. So, if there really was a problem, the police would’ve been called already.

Private or not, roads need to be fixed. If these road workers have permission, then it stands to reason to leave them be. And especially keeping your hands to yourself.
