Connecticut Couple Says Anniversary Dinner Ended With Restaurant Manager Kicking Them Out: ‘You Are Messing With Us. Get Out Now’

What a way to ruin a good date

A Connecticut couple entered a fine dining restaurant for their anniversary with high hopes but weren’t prepared for what was to come. Initially, everything looked amazing; the interior and decor gave off the right mood for a romantic dinner. On the other hand, the husband says the “staff look ROUGH,” and the service and food were abysmal. It was so bad, in fact, that the couple claims their anniversary dinner ended with them being personally kicked out by the manager.

“Ok, rough start but we were ready to power through it,” Secret-Set9129, the husband in this story, wrote in his post on r/Connecticut. The bread was allegedly stale and the drinks “tasted like bottom-shelf vodka.” Eventually, the couple was ready to call it a night and escape the sad excuse for a dinner that they’d been served so far.

However, after asking if they could cancel the entrées, the manager told them the food would be arriving very soon, so “I said OK and hoped for the best,” said Secret-Set9129. Unfortunately, their ‘hope for the best’ did not prepare them for the worst, as the steak and chicken they were given were, in the husband’s words, “truly shockingly bad.”

Enough was enough, so the couple politely said they were going to leave when the manager allegedly confronted them in a rather aggressive tone. They couldn’t have prepared for what came next, as Secret-Set9129 recalled telling the staff: “We came here to have a good time, not to mess with you guys,” and he’s like, ‘I think you are messing with us. Get out now.’”

Comments Claim the Connecticut Restaurant Was a Poor Choice for an Anniversary Dinner

According to the comments, the couple wasn’t missing out on much with the restaurant they went to, Cava in Southington. A top commenter wrote, “No one in Southington has anything good to say about Cava ever. It’s all decor with bad food and inflated prices.” Another Redditor took things a step further: “No one in Connecticut has anything good to say about Cava.”

“Which makes you wonder how it’s still in business,” remarked a third. A fourth says the couple should have looked up the bad reviews before choosing Cava, considering many claim to have had a bad time as well.

Set9129 responded, saying how it’s been ages since he’s had a restaurant experience so bad that he’s had to send back food to the kitchen. “I just didn’t even think of checking. Live and learn,” he concluded.
