Alicia Silverstone has taken her portrayal of Cher Horowitz to the next level. The actress caused a stir online after seemingly consuming a poisonous fruit. Silverstone’s gesture, which has been branded as “clueless,” has fans worried for her safety.
In a TikTok clip uploaded on Monday, the actress stumbled upon a mysterious fruit while in England. “I’ve discovered something, and I can’t figure out what it is, and I need your help,” Silverstone explained. She showed a small yellow fruit resembling an unripe cherry tomato to the camera. The Hollywood star had partly eaten the berry, which had several white seeds. “I just bit into it because it was on the street, and we were discussing whether it was a tomato or not,” she said. However, the Reptile actress confirmed that the fruit was indeed not a tomato because of its leaves.
She then proceeded to bite it one more time, admitting that she didn’t think she was “supposed to eat this.” Concluding the clip, Silverstone asked fans for their help.
“It’s almost like a pepper. Does anyone know what this is? I don’t know what it is. I need someone to tell me.”

Fans immediately stormed the comment section, identifying the fruit and letting Silverstone know she was in danger. Many recognized the fruit as a Jerusalem Cherry. According to MedlinePlus, it is a small, round, red, and orange fruit that contains the poisonous ingredient Solanocapsine. The symptoms of Jerusalem cherry poisoning include abdominal pain, diarrhea, hallucinations, nausea and vomiting, headache, paralysis, and more.
“Why would ANYONE eat random, unknown things from the street?!?” wondered a concerned fan. Another asked, “Why would ANYONE eat random, unknown things from the street?!?” Others, however, expressed concern that Silverstone hasn’t been online since posting the clip.
“WOMAN! UPDATE US. ARE YOU ALIVE AND WELL!?!” inquired a fan while another penned, “Okay, it is 7 am in England. Can you give us an update, PLEASE? Just a quick ‘Hey, I’m okay!’” A similar comment read, “MAAM. It’s been 7 HOURS 😳 are you okay?? Cause, like you took most of the second one down.” Silverstone hasn’t posted on social media ever since and her team is yet to comment on the incident.
