Caitlin Clark has been taking the sports world by storm since she burst onto the scene at The University of Iowa. However, an old college rival, Angel Reese, is not too happy about Clark taking up all the spotlight. Reese has stated many times that she is also a huge reason why women’s basketball has really taken off lately. Although that may be true, many believe that Reese is not going about voicing her complaints the right way.
A report by TMZ stated that these comments came just days after Reese and Clark’s first faceoff in the WNBA. Clark’s Indiana Fever came out on top in a competitive game by a final score of 71-70. After a very physical game and one very hard foul on Clark, fans were frustrated with how the Chicago Sky handled themselves.
Angel Reese Seems Sick of Caitlin Clark
“It all started from the national championship game,” Reese said after practice on Monday, adding, “People are talkin’ about women’s basketball that you would never think to talk about women’s basketball. It’s not just because of one person. It’s because of me, too, and I want you to realize that,” Reese said. “This is not just because of one person.”
However, what really kicked off all of the drama was a cheap shot foul by Chennedy Carter. Carter put a shoulder into Caitlin Clark while she had her back turned, and Angel Reese was seen cheering about it on the bench. That is what really got fans going.
Fans then took to social media to give their takes on the incident. “Looks like the veteran player Carter couldn’t keep her emotions in check. Great to see a rookie get in her head like that,” one fan wrote. “Talking trash is one thing. This was an unnecessary, flagrant foul,” said another.
This “beef” between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese seems very one-sided. Clark has nothing but respect for Reese, but Angel must not feel the same way. It is a sad day for sports when a talent like Reese goes to such lows for attention. Although Clark seems unfazed. Reese deserves recognition, but not for actions like these.
