Ariana Grande hasn’t forgotten about those leaked tracks. On Monday, February 26, the “Yes, and?” singer appeared on the Zach Sang Show to address her unreleased music going viral on TikTok last year. Although upset over what happened, Grande decided to make the best out of a bad situation by creating reworked versions of her leaked material. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long to hear the results because they’ll be featured on her new album Eternal Sunshine, which drops on March 8.

Ariana Grande On “Fantasize” Getting Leaked

Grande brought up the topic while discussing her love for her long-time producer, Max Martin. She revealed the pair had gotten together for a few recording sessions before she took a music hiatus to film Wicked. She never meant for fans to hear those unfinished demos. However, they ended up leaking online last summer without her consent.

The few studio sessions that I did are all over TikTok, thank you so much. I’ll see you in jail. Literally.

Grande explained that the reason why she’s so upset over the leaks is that the songs weren’t meant for her. She had actually recorded them for a TV show. The most popular leaked track was “Fantasize.” According to Variety, the song has been used in over 130,000 TikToks since it surfaced online. Grande slammed the leakers behind “Fantasize” by calling them “thieves,” “pirates,” and crooks.”

That wasn’t my song. That wasn’t for me. It was like a parody of a 90s girl group vibe.

The star jokingly called her fans “hypocrites” for making the song go viral. She even admitted finding it “crazy” that they liked “Fantasize” so much because she found it “corny.” Despite what happened, Grande took the experience and used it to her advantage. Since fans loved her leaked demos, she decided to rework them into better songs that’ll be featured on Eternal Sunshine.

They’re completely different now. So although you’ve heard them — because you stole them — they’re very different now.
