Ariana Grande Speaks On ‘Immeasurable Heaviness’ After Donald Trump’s Election Win: ‘Grieving’

It wasn’t what she wanted

Ariana Grande is sharing her thoughts on the 2024 Presidential elections. Donald Trump emerged as the winner, defeating the Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris by a landslide in both the popular vote and Electoral College. Harris’ campaign was majorly backed by celebrities, making the election results a bitter pill to swallow for most.

Grande reflected on the atmosphere in Hollywood in a somber Instagram Story post. Posted across a black background, the singer wrote, “Holding the hand of every person who is feeling the immeasurable heaviness of this outcome today.” She then reposted Viola Davis’s message of appreciation to Harris. In the post, the Woman King actress penned, “Thank you for your bravery @kamalaharris. Thank you for loving America’s promise. I am and will forever be proud.”

Despite being busy with the promotion of the Wicked movie, Grande took the time to endorse Madam Vice President. In late October, she revealed to her 376 million followers that she voted for Harris through Florida’s early voting program. She shared a clip of her set to Beyoncé’s hit song, Freedom, while urging her fans that “your vote matters.” Also, in July, when President Joe Biden dropped his bid for re-election, she posted his endorsement message for Harris.

The Nickelodeon alum’s impact went beyond just endorsing the VP. Per The Independent, Grande was praised for helping the voter registration organization, HeadCount, to break records. “Through our partnerships with over 100 top music artists — like Sabrina Carpenter, Green Day, Ariana Grande, and so many others — HeadCount had a record-breaking year, registering over 450,000 new voters and engaging over 3 million more people to make sure they vote,” a statement read.

Ariana Grande Wanted Fans To ‘Reject’ Donald Trump

Grande continued to lament in subsequent posts, sharing a meme that read, “Earth is in its flop era.” She also shared a cryptic message about “grieving, processing, and recalibrating.” It comes as no surprise that Grande feels dejected by Trump’s win as she has been vocally against his presidency. Back in 2022, when the convicted felon announced his interest in running for the 2024 elections, the 31-year-old posted a lengthy message urging Americans not to make that happen.

She uploaded information detailing problematic events that occurred during Trump’s time in office, as well as his numerous legal problems. “We do not need another four years of the intentional chaos that this man sows for personal gain. Reject him with everything you have,” Grande’s post read. Even in 2016, when he won against Hilary Clinton, the 7 Rings singer described his victory as “terrifying,” adding that it left her in tears. Unfortunately, this time isn’t different for the songstress.
