Billie Eilish is finally telling the truth about her sexuality. But it was a bumpy journey getting there. The nine-time Grammy Award is returning to music with the upcoming release of her highly-anticipated third studio album, Hit Me Hard And Soft. The project has a sexual theme, with the track Lunch confessing that Eilish “could eat that girl for lunch.” However, the revelation about her sexuality didn’t come entirely on her own terms.
Billie Eilish Never Planned To Talk About Her Sexuality
Ahead of the May 17 release of Hit Me Hard And Soft, Billie Eilish sat down with Rolling Stone. She discussed the inspiration behind the album and what fans should expect. While chatting about the sexual nature of the track Lunch, the 22-year-old revealed that the explicit lyrics weren’t literally about her life. “That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” she revealed. “I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl and then wrote the rest after. I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand — until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina.”
While the Oscar winner has no problem now telling the world that she likes women, it wasn’t always the case for her. Last year, a publication outed her, and she didn’t feel good about it. She explained:
“I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”
Eilish was referring to a viral Variety interview where she said “I’m attracted to them for real,” while speaking about women. Afterward a reporter asked on a red carpet if she willingly came out of the closet in the interview. The Bad Guy singer didn’t appreciate the invasion and blasted the publication on social media.
However, now looking back on the debacle, Eilish said, “The whole world suddenly decided who I was, and I didn’t get to say anything or control any of it. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other, and I think that there’s a lot of wanting labels all over the place.”

Eilish’s confession about her sexuality comes a week after she kissed YouTuber Quelin Blackwell at Coachella. The romantic interaction went viral on the Internet. A video showed Eilish hanging in the crowd before walking towards a dancing Blackwell and kissing her. However, it wasn’t the first rodeo for the pair. In March, Eilish was seen licking Blackwell’s neck in an Instagram Story update.
The duo is yet to confirm if they are indeed dating. However, fans seem to be rooting for them hard. “The way Billie Eilish grabbed her and kissed her is telling us that she’s Bisexual… Even if you agree or disagree,” noted one fan. Another wrote, “The way she grabbed her face??? Oh, she’s not new to this; she’s true to this.”
