It all started on Tuesday, Sept. 17, when the “You & Me” singer was spotted in Los Angeles grabbing dinner with another famous K-pop idol: GOT7’s BamBam. Although they were joined by other friends, fans immediately began speculating Jennie and BamBam were a couple. After photos of the pair went viral, Jennie’s agency, OA Entertainment, released a statement addressing the dating rumors.

In a statement shared on Thursday, Sept. 19, ODD ATELIER (OA), denied that BLACKPINK’s Jennie and GOT7’s BamBam are romantically involved. The company insisted the dating rumors were just a big misunderstanding and that the K-pop stars are nothing more than just friends. “The two, who have been friends for a while, met up for a meal in the United States,” OA said, according to the Korean News outlet Soompi.
The company’s statement comes just two days after photos surfaced online of Jennie and BamBam grabbing dinner with friends at Sushi Park in West Hollywood. They were all smiles as they chatted and laughed while hanging out at the celebrity hotspot.
Some fans speculated their meeting could tease a collaboration was on the way. After all, Jennie is expected to release a new single in October. Her comeback will come shortly after signing with the American record label Columbia Records earlier this month. While some fans crossed their fingers, Jennie was teaming up with BamBam on new music; others thought she and the GOT7 star were secretly dating.
It wouldn’t be the first time BLACKPINK’s Jennie had been wrapped up in dating rumors. Over the years, she’s also been romantically linked to K-pop idols like EXO’s Kai, BigBang’s G-Dragon, and BTS’ V. It’s unclear if any of the rumors were true, however.
