The feud between exes Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie isn’t ending anytime soon. Eight years after their divorce, the exes have been embroiled in ongoing custody and other legal disputes. But their battle has extended beyond the courtroom and onto the Hollywood circuit. The Wolfs actor plans to hurt his ex-wife’s Oscar dreams by supporting rival nominee Nicole Kidman.
Awards season is quickly approaching, and Jolie and Kidman are contenders for this year’s Best Actress Oscar race. Angelina’s performance in Maria is generating award buzz, and so is Nicole’s erotic film Babygirl.
While Kidman has tough competition against Jolie, she’s got huge support from one person.
According to In Touch Weekly, Pitt has become the actress’ “biggest cheerleader” as she aims to win her second Oscar.
Brad has emerged as a real supporter of Nicole for her work in Babygirl and has even attended private industry screenings of the movie with Nicole, where he made no secret of how much he likes the film and her work in it.
Nicole is thrilled to have Brad’s support in promoting the movie, but the actor might have an ulterior motive.
To be fair, the movie itself is really in Brad’s wheelhouse and it feature Nicole performing very edgy sex scenes, but who are we really kidding here. This support, which is meaningful to Nicole and her campaign, is really just Brad’s way of getting back at Angelina, who everybody knows is set up to win her first Oscar in 25 years.
Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman’s Friendship Before Angelina Jolie
Being two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Pitt and Kidman have become acquaintances. The two first crossed paths in 1994 when he filmed Interview with the Vampire with her then-husband Tom Cruise.
I think he would have befriended her much earlier in her career, but Brad made a point of steering clear of Nicole in the nineties because he and Tom Cruise disliked each other so much after making Interview with the Vampire together.
Brad and Nicole reconnected twenty years later when she was cast in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. However, scheduling conflicts caused her to drop out, and Jolie replaced her. Pitt and Jolie fell in love on set, which resulted in his divorce from Jennifer Aniston.
Kidman is friends with Pitt’s other ex-wife, Aniston, but their friendship “didn’t develop until after Jen and Brad split up.” But that seems to have no effect on Pitt, who wants to revive his relationship with his friend.
Like any good pal, Brad Pitt will support Nicole Kidman’s new movie and her campaign for next year’s Oscar. But his actions will hurt Angelina Jolie, who “poured her heart and soul into her comeback film.”
