Bronny James has been dealing with an immense amount of hate since he was drafted into the NBA. However, now Saturday Night Live has “brutally bashed” the young man. At the same time, James Jr. played a handful of NBA games alongside his father, LeBron James. Although he is now being sent down to the NBA’s G League. This was the plan the whole time, but that is not stopping the media from having a field day with the news.
USA Today reports that it was a no-brainer that SNL’s Weekend Update segment was going to mention Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election. However, they also slipped in a joke about Bronny James. Micheal Che stated that Trump was up so much at one point that they put Bronny James in. This is the least James Jr. has had to deal with lately. Since being sent down to the G League, basketball fans have just had more ammunition to use against the rookie. Some even say he “doesn’t even belong in the G League.”
Fans React to Bronny James Getting Roasted by SNL Amid NBA G League News
Those same fans then took to Reddit to talk even more trash about James Jr.
“They’re even blasting him on SNL. Poor kid,” one said.
“He was brutally bashed on Weekend Update, and it was actually pretty funny,” wrote another.
Finally, one fan joked, “But did he win the Call of Duty tournament at halftime?“
It would seem as though even if some fans feel bad for Bronny, most are just jumping on the hate train.
However, there is still an upside to James Jr. going to the NBA’s G League. Now, the young man can work on his game where the lights aren’t so bright. Bronny could become a solid rotational player on a championship-contending team someday. While teams need stars to win, they also need good role players. The G League has produced great players, and Bronny could be one of those players in the future. However, the rookie still has a lot of work ahead of him, but it doesn’t seem impossible.
Bronny James being flamed on Saturday Night Live is nothing new. SNL has gone after plenty of athletes. In 2018, when LeBron James was leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to their fourth straight NBA Finals, there was an entire segment called “The Other Cavs.” What is important here is how James Jr. uses his time in the G League.
Bronny James has to use this time in the NBA’s G League to work on his game. The rookie has to be ready for the next time the Los Angeles Lakers call his name. Despite the constant hate, James Jr. has been able to keep his head down and just play some basketball. He could definitely thrive in the G League.
