Layover will make V the fifth member of BTS to make his solo debut. After BTS announced their temporary hiatus in June 2022, J-Hope became the first member of the group to drop a solo album by releasing Jack In The Box that July. RM then followed suit with the release of Indigo in December. Earlier this year, Jimin dropped Face on March 24, and a month later, Suga unveiled D-Day on April 21.
BIGHIT announced V’s debut solo album on Twitter (X) by sharing a 17-second video teaser for the project. The clip shows a package featuring photos of V and his dog, Yeontan, on the cover. It’s secured with purple tape that has the word “Layover” written all over it. The box floats around in the wind before landing in front of an apartment. Afterward, a bunch of packages appear and rain down on the apartment complex before the video ends.
According to a press release, V’s debut solo album will have a total of six tracks: “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” “For Us,” and a bonus track, which will be a piano version of “Rainy Days.” Layover will consist of R&B elements, as well as soul and pop. Although “Rainy Days” will be the “focus track,” all of the songs on the album will come with a music video.
V collaborated with ADOR president and executive producer Hee Jin Min on his album. Notably, ADOR is the company behind NewJeans, who recently went No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their second EP, Get Up.
