Eva Mendes has taken a staunch stand in defense of The Fall Guy movie, her husband Ryan Gosling‘s latest film. Recall that the movie was released in the U.S. on May 3, and many expected it to be a hit. However, The Fall Guy flopped at the Box Office during its opening weekend, earning less than $30 million domestically. So far, the movie has yet to earn back its budget of $130 million. Nevertheless, Mendes is still proud of the project’s achievements so far. Recently, she took to her social media page to defend the movie and show support for her husband.
The Fall Guy Movie Disappoints at the Box Office
Given the success of Oppenheimer and Barbie in 2023, fans looked forward to the release of Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling’s movie The Fall Guy. The movie eventually dropped on May 3 and had quite the reception from fans. The plot follows the story of Colt, a battle-scarred stuntman played by Gosling, as he tries to win back the love of his life and film director Jodi, played by Blunt. He does this by finding the missing star of Jodi’s blockbuster movie. Overall, the film had star power and high expectations. But unfortunately, it struggled to attract a significant audience.
The Fall Guy movie earned a disappointing $28.5 million domestically during its opening weekend. Two weeks later, the production has garnered only $53 million in domestic gross earnings and $107 million worldwide, against an estimated $130 million budget. So far, it appears that the film isn’t on course to profit and will need a huge turnaround to have any chance of finding financial success.
Eva Mendes Shows Support for Her Husband and His The Fall Guy Movie
Despite The Fall Guy‘s underwhelming Box Office performance, Eva Mendes has publicly supported her husband’s film. On Thursday, the stay-at-home mom took to Instagram with a series of photos, as well as a lovely caption. The first slide featured a photo of the film’s poster, showing Gosling and Blunt kissing. In the other slides, Mendes shared screenshots of positive online reviews from Twitter fans. In one of the screenshots, a fan shared that the movie was so good and fun. According to them, it contained some of the most creative fight scenes they had seen in a long time. In another slide, a fan shared, “Alright, why aren’t you people going to watch #TheFallGuy? It’s the most fun I’ve had watching a movie in a LONG time.”
The 50-year-old shared one of the movie’s achievements in the post’s caption.
“Did you know?! @thefallguymovie is the FIRST non super hero movie to open the summer box office in 17 years,” Mendes wrote.
She then noted that although the film didn’t break the Box Office, it broke other records, and she was proud.
“The proof is in my post- I don’t usually post pics of my man kissing a babe but Emily Blunt is just that damn good in it. THEY’RE that damn good in it,” she concluded.
Fans couldn’t agree more with Mendes, as many had only good things to say about the movie in the comments section. If fans agree that The Fall Guy is a good movie, one must wonder why it is doing badly at the Box Office. Hopefully, Mendes’s post will pull more people to go and see the film.
