Garth Brooks fans were shocked when allegations of sexual assault and misconduct were thrown out against the country music icon earlier this year. Now, the singer is fighting back against a former makeup artist who claims that Brooks raped her in a hotel when the two were traveling together for work back in 2019. Despite the horrific allegations, Brooks has maintained his innocence. He’s also seemingly been receiving support from his wife, country singer Trish Yearwood.
According to the U.S. Sun, things have gotten so bad for Garth Brooks that the latest update on his legal woes has him losing gigs. The singer was reportedly supposed to appear for a performance on late-night show Jimmy Kimmell Live! However, that performance has now been axed. Instead, Brooks was left out in the cold without any talks of rescheduling the appearance.
The Friends in Low Places singer was originally scheduled to perform a mini-concert in front of Jimmy Kimmel’s live audience on November 25. However, all that has changed due to the shocking allegations that have come forth over the past two months.
Garth Brooks Performance Canceled Amid Sexual Assault Scandal
“Unfortunately, the Garth Brooks Outdoor Mini-Concert at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, 11/25 has been canceled and will no longer proceed as scheduled,” a ticket-holder email stated. “Unfortunately, in the world of television, these things sometimes happen. This event will not be rescheduled.”
The rape allegations against Brooks first surfaced in October. The alleged victim claimed that she was assaulted by the singer when they traveled from Nashville to Los Angeles. The duo were reportedly alone together on the singer’s private jet. He also allegedly only booked one hotel room for them during the trip.
The makeup artist claims that Brooks appeared naked in the doorway of their hotel room and proceeded to assault her. She alleges that the singer then went on to expect her to do his hair and makeup as normal after the assault.
However, Garth remains steady in his claims of innocent. He’s previously spoken out, claiming he’s not the man that the allegations have painted him to be. He also says he’s been “hassled” throughtou the allegations, which has included threats. “It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face,” he stated.
Of course, fans have thoughts on Brooks’ scandal. Some believe that it could be difficult for him to continue his career due to the allegations.
“It’s disappointing to see a beloved singer be accused of such horrible acts. Not sure if he’s guilty or not, but this will certainly ruin his career,” one person wrote via Reddit.
Recently, Garth Brooks revealed that he and Trisha Yearwood fell in love with the country of Ireland. He even claimed that his wife wanted to move there. So, if the singer can’t seem to resolve his legal issues in the way he wants, there’s a chance he could leave the country.
