Is Halsey quitting music? Following the release of her new single “Lucky,” the star went on Tumblr to share a lengthy message about her time in the spotlight. In her post, Halsey said that while she’s used to receiving occasional hate comments, she has recently seen nothing but negativity about her online. Since most of the criticism is from her own fans, Halsey revealed she’s having complicated feelings about releasing new music.

Halsey held nothing back in her message. The singer accused her fans of being “meaner” to her than “any other people on the planet.” She noted that not all of her fans are like that. However, she feels that most of her fanbase has turned on her in recent years. While they used to be super supportive of her, she’s noticed they do nothing but criticize her lately.
It used to be just a minority that were awful to me and now it seems like a majority have only stuck around to chime in occasionally with their opinion of how much they hate me or how awful I am.
The constant hate has put Halsey in such a negative headspace that it’s made it difficult for her to be on social media. “It’s hard to want to engage in a space that is completely devoid of any kindness, sympathy, patience, or, to be honest, human decency,” Halsey wrote.
The star said she had been afraid it would happen one day. Since her fears have become a reality, Halsey is questioning how to move forward. While she could always stay and hope things improve, she’s considering leaving fame for good. “I almost lost my life,” she said, referring to her recent health struggles. “I am not gonna do anything that doesn’t make me happy anymore. I can’t spiritually afford it.”
When she was sick, Halsey looked forward to making music and interacting with fans again. However, since it didn’t turn out as expected, Halsey admitted feeling like she made the wrong move by returning to the spotlight following her health battle. “I want to crawl into a hole, and I regret coming back,” she said.

It’s unclear what made Halsey feel this way. On Friday, July 26, she released her new single “Lucky” from her upcoming fifth studio album. The track features a sample of Britney Spears’ 2000 single of the same name. Halsey also paid tribute to the pop star in her “Lucky” music video. Although Spears initially appeared to criticize the music video, she has since revealed it was all a big misunderstanding.
Most fans appeared to love Halsey’s “Lucky.” However, based on her Tumblr post, it seems not everyone had the best reaction to her comeback.
