Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler joke about whether someone else got Adam Sandler’s Friends role. The two friends walked the red carpet at the premiere of their Netflix action comedy on Tuesday. There, they opened up on whether or not Adam was an option for the role, which went to David Schwimmer. Get the details below.
Jennifer Aniston And Adam Sandler Talk About Adam’s Friends Role
If fans ever wondered whether Adam Sandler got cast as Ross on Friends, Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler answered already.
The pair commented on the possibility while promoting their new film, Murder Mystery 2. Jennifer and Adam each spoke with ET about whether or not Adam was cast for the role.
“Well, that’s a very big possibility,” Jennifer said, before asking Adam, “Were you really up to playing Ross?” Adam shook his head no, adding, “I would have!”
“No that wasn’t real,” he quickly retracted before adding. “I was just joking.”
Jennifer And Adam Want Drew Barrymore On A Project
Meanwhile, the pair want Drew Barrymore to make a movie adaptation of Three’s Company.
“Talk to the sweatshirted man!” Jennifer said, referring to the casually dressed Adam when asked about the possibility. The Horrible Bosses star added that the possible collaboration depends on how well-received Murder Mystery 2 is.
“If they enjoyed themselves and had a good time, Netflix will hopefully just say ‘Yup!'” Jennifer added enthusiastically.
Adam, on his part, said he wasn’t sure that Three’s Company would be the right project for the trio. However, he admitted it could be “funny” if a good writer picked it up.
Meanwhile, the real problem with an adaptation of Three’s Company is stepping into the shoes of Jack Tripper. The iconic 1977 comedy role originally went to John Ritter in the beloved sitcom.
“Jack Tripper is the best, by the way. I don’t think I’m Jack Tripper,” Adam said of the comedian. “I could see so many comics doing it… he’s a stud of a guy.”
Three’s Company is premised on Jack Tripper, who desperately needs accommodation. Jack eventually finds a decent place, but he has to pretend he is homosexual to live there.
Adam Sandler’s Friends role would have made him and Jennifer Aniston co-stars much earlier. Regardless, Friends turned out to be great with David Schwimmer too.
