Billie Eilish announced via Instagram on Monday, April 8 the release date for Hit Me Hard and Soft, her third studio album. The news comes after Eilish teased fans the day before with Instagram stories promising an announcement on Monday and adding followers to her “close friends” list on the platform. The album will be the first full-length piece the artist has released since her 2021 album, Happier Than Ever, which followed her debut album, 2019’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?.

Hit Me Hard and Soft will land on streaming platforms and stores on May 17, 2024, but fans will not get any taste of Eilish’s work ahead of time. Per her Instagram announcement, she is “not doing singles i wanna give it to you all at once.” Eilish added, “finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it.”

Eilish’s 2024 is already off to a good start. The artist, alongside her brother, Finneas O’Connell, won a Golden Globe, two Grammys, and an Oscar for their song “What Was I Made For?”, which was written for 2023’s massive hit film Barbie. The duo added the two Grammys to their ever-growing list of music awards, while their Golden Globe and Oscar wins made them two-for-two in the Best Original Song category at both shows. Eilish is now the youngest person ever to win two Oscars and the youngest person ever to win a Grammy for Song of the Year and an Oscar for Best Original Song for the same song.
