Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck appear to be more in love than ever as the couple walked the red carpet in attendance of This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, a movie documenting Lopez’ highly publicized love life. It provides a visual representation of the many events that transpired leading up to the album’s completion, including her inspirations and the challenges she faced.
Her upcoming studio album This Is Me… Now acts as a sequel to her 2002 album This Is Me… Then. Besides herself and Affleck, the movie features a handful of well-known celebrities in Post Malone, Sofía Vergara, Derek Hough, Paul Raci, Keke Palmer, and Trevor Noah.
As OK! Magazine reports, the “If You Had My Love” singer was inspired by her real-life romance with Ben Affleck to finish the project, which was several years in the making.
“I was like, ‘I don’t write, I don’t do this.’ He was like, ‘You do, you write, you direct, you produce, you choreograph, you do all the things. Start stepping into that, start owning a little bit of who you are,’” she said of her husband.
The pair’s whirlwind romance came to a screeching halt in 2004 after they ended their mere two-year engagement. In 2021, Affleck and Lopez rekindled their relationship and wed the following year.
“When Ben and I got back together, it was just like, ‘I want to make music again, I want to get back in the studio,'” she said. “I was very, very inspired.”
“I wanted to capture this moment in time. Once the music was done, it felt so special to me. It felt like something very different than I had ever done, even though I’ve written about love my whole career. Half the time, I was thinking, like, ‘This is amazing! I am so excited that I’m doing this!’ And then half the time I was like, ‘Why are you doing this? You are so crazy.”
Lopez announced exclusively to Today that she will be taking her ninth studio album on tour across North America this summer. The 2024 tour will cover more than 30 cities across North America, beginning June and ending in August. This will be J. Lo’s first tour in five years, since “It’s My Party” back in 2019.
“This Is Me…Now The Tour” kicks off June 26 in Orlando, Florida, at the Kia Center.
