  • Jennifer Lopez Talks About Her New Film

Jennifer Lopez is a multi-talented woman who has proven herself as one of the entertainment industry’s greats (she can sing, dance, and act). But recently, there has been much chatter about an impending retirement as her latest album, This Is Me…Now, has been branded a “flop” and has resulted in poor album sales and quite a hit to her career. Despite this, Lopez has a new action film coming out on Netflix. The thing is, not everyone is excited about it.

Fans React To Jennifer Lopez’s Netflix Movie

Jennifer Lopez took to Instagram to share a teaser for the new Netflix film, Atlas. She plays the lead role of Atlas Shepherd, and her performance was on display in the trailer. She captioned the post, “Here’s a new sneak peek … Atlas Shepherd reports for duty May 24 only on @Netflix.” The reactions to the post have been mixed.

There are undeniably people who are excited for the film to drop and plan to watch it. “JLo is killing it!!! A must-watch for me,” a fan wrote. “Counting the days down until Atlas release!!! It looks awesome,” another shared. Other comments on the film include, “Can’t wait to watch the single hardest working woman in Hollywood,” “Yas mama @jlo! You can do it all!” and “You can play any role girl!!! I’m so proud of you and can’t wait to see #ATLAS.”

The comment section is also filled with fire emojis, although her haters have been quick to respond to this. “It’s like the same 2 people filling up the feed with the same fire emoji in the comments,” one person wrote.

Many people are not feeling the film. “This movie looks awful,” a Instagram user wrote, adding a thumbs-down emoji. “WE DON’T WANT THIS. WE DID NOT ASK FOR THIS!” another comment reads. Other responses include “Not buying it,” and questions about how realistic it is. “Being in that kind of situation with bangs and hair down is wild,” a fan wrote.

Jennifer Lopez Talks About Her New Film

It is worth noting that the people responding negatively to Lopez’s trailer are not giving reasons as to why they don’t like it, apart from a sprinkling of “bad acting” comments. Could it be that they do not think highly of her acting skills? Is it simply that they do not like Lopez or feel she has become irrelevant? Some of the star’s more recent movies have been met with harsh criticism. Some examples include the film Shotgun Wedding which is rated just 5.5 out of 10 on IMDB. The Mother received a rating of 5.6, and This Is Me … Now got a disappointing 4.3 out of 10.

Jennifer Lopez has commented on her new movie in a statement to Netflix, and even if some of her fans aren’t excited about it, she is. “I loved that this is a big sci-fi action movie, but at its core, it’s a story of friendship — and a love story, in a way,” she said. “I always see everything as a love story, but this is a different kind of love between two beings who connect in disastrous circumstances, and teach each other how to be more human.”
