Johnny Depp is looking back at his publicized legal battle and divorce from his ex-wife Amber Heard with no baggage. Two years after the contentious drama played out, Depp, who is in the middle of a career comeback, revealed he has moved on completely, with no negative feelings to spare.
While discussing his new directorial project, Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness, Depp told THR that he could relate to the “wilderness” the protagonist faced in the movie. “It was a vast wilderness, and ultimately, that vast wilderness taught me a whole lot,” the actor said. When asked about the lessons learned, he answered, “Honestly, I can sit here this very second and think about all the hit pieces, and how everybody was against me, and yeah yeah yeah he is off the map … endless stuff. I can remember it all. Went through it all. Some of it was not the most beautiful time, some of it was hilarious. Some of it was mad.”
Depp further explained that despite it all, it was just an experience for him. “The thing is, it simply just was, and it simply just is. So, for me, it happened. I learned, man,” he explained before adding:
“Everything that we experience, whether you’re given a snow cone or walking your dog, you learn something somewhere along the way. So I don’t have any ill feelings toward anyone. I don’t have this great reserve of hatred, because hatred requires caring. Why carry that baggage?”
The Pirates of the Caribbean star further compared his scandal to late NFL player, OJ Simpson. “Everything has been … it has really, it just is. And on some level, it is gonna be around, that kind of thing,” he said. “It’s like OJ or something. But hey, it just happened. That’s all.“
Johnny Depp Bashed For Comments On Amber Heard Controversy
Depp’s confession wasn’t taken in good faith by fans who can’t forgive him. “Oh, but I do bear plenty of ill feelings towards this rapist wife-beater,” responded one fan.
“We all know that narcissists have no feelings. We get it,” commented a second fan.
“He f**king compared himself to OJ, Jesus Christ,” a third user lamented.
“Not the wifebeater r*pist saying he has no ill feelings toward anyone,” another remark read.
“He hasn’t moved on mentally. And he is rambling incoherently in most interviews,” this fan observed.
