Post-divorce life continues to work well in favor of Kim Kardashian over her ex-husband Kanye West. Since calling it quits in 2022, the famous exes have had markedly different experiences with their career and fame. Kardashian has only gotten richer and achieved several career milestones. However, the rapper’s reputation continues to dwindle, especially after being blackballed for his 2023 anti-Semitic tirade.
According to a new report, Kanye has suffered another major loss. His famous Sunday Service gospel choir has lost its charity status after failing to file tax returns for three years. IRS revoked the gospel organization’s tax exemption status on May 15. But they only recently made the information public, per The Sun. The gospel group, which was formed in 2019, made waves with their unique performances. After a temporary disruption in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kanye’s Sunday Service choir returned. However, at the time, the rapper was plagued with lawsuits from choir members who claimed they were mistreated.
Kanye was named in two class-action lawsuits for violating California labor laws and “failing to pay minimum wage and overtime.” The suit involved about 500 performers and 300 backstage staff, who were allegedly denied bathroom breaks and food despite hours on set. The Yeezy founder settled the lawsuit for $1.35 million as opposed to the $10.5 million damages they demanded. Since June 2023, Kanye and the Sunday Service gospel choir haven’t publicly performed.
Kim Kardashian Snags Deal With Disney’s 20th Television
Amid Kanye’s loss, Kardashian reached a new milestone in her acting career. Less than two years after landing her first major acting role, she signed a deal with Disneyโs 20th Television to develop scripted shows. The studio was behind American Horror Story, and All’s Fair โ Kardashian’s first acting and producing projects, respectively. Kardashian will work alongside her best friend La La Anthony and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris. The trio will collaborate to create a show based on Anthony’s best-selling book, The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness. It is titled Group Chat.
The KUWTK alum celebrated the news with a statement to Deadline. “I’m incredibly interested in telling stories that are personal, complicated, relevant, from my own experiences and those familiar to me,” she gushed.
