Khalid is speaking his truth. On Friday, Nov. 22, the R&B singer opened up about his sexuality in a series of posts on X. After tweeting an emoji of a rainbow flag, Khalid confirmed that he’s gay. Although he said that he was never “hiding anything,” he decided to officially come out after being outed on social media.
Khalid Comes Out As Gay
Following the outing incident, Khalid took to X to address the rumors regarding his sexuality. He began by posting an emoji of a rainbow flag with exclamation points. “there yall go. next topic please lol,” he wrote. One fan responded by tweeting, “Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!” Since he didn’t explicitly reveal his sexuality, Khalid followed up his initial tweet with another post confirming that he was gay. “I am! And that’s okay,” he told the fan.
Although Khalid said that his sexuality “ain’t nobodies business,” he had decided to publicly address it since he had already been outed. Despite the sticky situation, the star reassured fans that he wasn’t “ashamed of my sexuality” and that he was “okay with me.”
When one fan joked that “the closet was glass,” Khalid confirmed that he was never “hiding anything.” However, he didn’t feel the need to come out previously since it was no one’s business but his own.
The Drama With Hugo D Almonte
While Khalid didn’t reveal who had outed him, his posts came shortly after singer Hugo D Almonte had tweeted, “one of your favorite gay R&B singers suck my d*ck and it was really bad.” Almonte continued by accusing the singer of lying about breaking into his house after they had broken up. “Why would I go to your house and do all that if I broke up with you dumb ass!” he said.
Almonte did initially mention Khalid. However, he shared a photo with the R&B star some time later, confirming he was indeed talking about him.
Following Khalid’s posts, Almonte deleted all of his tweets referencing the singer. Several fans screenshotted his posts, however. Following his controversial remarks, people criticized Almonte for outing Khalid and then attempting to do damage control by deleting any trace of him on his account.
Khalid is an American singer and songwriter from El Paso, Texas, who is known for releasing various R&B hits over the years. Some of his biggest songs include “Location,” “Young Dumb & Broke,” “Love Lies,” and “Better.”
