Lamar Odom does not intend to allow his ex-manager Tonita Bybee to go scot-free for trying to sell his home despite parting with her over a year ago. The basketball champion turned entrepreneur says she stole his home and forged personal documents. About a year ago, the retired NBA star and ex to Khloe Kardashian teamed up with Bybee. Together, they founded the Savvy Talent Management Group. They aimed to target athletes, entertainers, and other creatives in proper career management. But now, irrespective of their past work relationship, they have some scores to settle in court.
Lamar Odom And Tonita Bybee Gained From Each Other
Though the Savvy Talent Management Group belongs to Bybee, managing Odom, her first client, blessed her with the charm needed to attract other reputable clients. At the same time, Odom gained from the alliance.
During an interview with ShoutOut Atlanta, Bybee confirmed that she rebranded Odom as a successful businessman. In her words:
“We celebrated 1 year of me being his manager on December 12, 2021. To date, I have created over 3 million dollars in revenue for Mr. Odom and ensured his new found success as a businessman.”
Trouble As Lamar Odom Sues Tonita Bybee
Their partnership did not carry on for long because Lamar Odom relieved Tonita Bybee of her manager position last May. One year after her absence, the Laker’s star charged her with a plethora of crimes against him.
PageSix got a hold of the legal documents which suggested that his former manager devised a plot to defraud him of his property. According to the reports, Bybee sold off his Brooklyn home by fabricating a deed.
Odom says he was never present to sign any papers nor did he appear before the public notary who authorized a forged deed. This means that the body had acted improperly.
Again, Lamar Odom slams Tonita ByBee for using his name, signature, and personal details including employer ID number and SSN. She allegedly used verified social media accounts and email addresses.
The 43-year-old believes the entire scheme was built on “malice, wanton dishonesty,” and “immoral turpitude.” The charges levied on Bybee through Odom’s filing include “embezzlement,” “conversion,” “identity theft” and “various other iterations of fraud.”
Family Lived In Lamar Odom’s Brooklyn Home
Lamar Odom’s Brooklyn home holds a special place in his heart. The former athlete maintained that his family has clutched onto the property for over two decades.
Unfortunately, a relative was affected by Bybee’s actions. Odom’s aunt, Carol Janean Mercer had moved into the home after losing her husband, Michael Mercer— his uncle. The documents claim that selling the property through fraudulent means has cost Carol her peace as she is currently dealing with possible eviction.
Other Accusations By Lamar Odom
Apart from allegedly exploiting Lamar Odom’s personal details, acting in his stead, and receiving funds, Tonita ByBee is owing her former client. In the lawsuit, Odom added that his ex-manager has not paid up the funds received from his TV appearances.
This includes his time on Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Boxing, College Hill: Celebrity Edition,” and other promotional deals. He has requested over $ 1 million in damages while seeking to clear his name in the entire charade.
