Laura Harrier is not happy with Shameik Moore. The Spider-Man: Homecoming actress posted a TikTok calling out the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse star for igniting dating rumors between them. The speculation stemmed from a video Moore shared online showing the pair taking pictures together at an event last year. Since she’s happily engaged, Harrier asked Moore to take the video down to stop the romance rumors from getting worse. After he ignored her request, she felt forced to take things public.
Behind the Laura Harrier and Shameik Moore Drama
Laura Harrier, who plays Liz Allan in Marvel’s live-action Spider-Man films, didn’t explicitly name Shameik Moore in her TikTok. She referred to him as an “actor.” Harrier explained that she’s seen a lot of discourse online about her and the unnamed star following a cryptic video he posted of them together. Much of the gossip has involved fans “speculating” they could be in a secret relationship. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. “It’s really annoying me because I’m literally engaged, and that’s important to me,” she said.
Harrier accused the actor of posting the video without her consent. She said she only knew about it because a friend had sent it to her. Since it was taken at a party last year, Harrier didn’t understand why it was being shared now. If she had to guess, she assumed it was because the actor may have wanted “to get attention.”
“I’m in Hollywood, I get it. People do PR stunts, whatever,” she said.
Regardless, she didn’t like how it garnered so much attention from their fans online. Instead of taking things public, Harrier initially tried to resolve things quietly behind the scenes. She contacted the actor to explain how uncomfortable she felt with the “insinuation that something’s going on” between them if that was his “intention.”
Laura Harrier thought he would understand and remove his post. When he failed to do so, the actress became frustrated because she felt like her marriage was “being disrespected.” In the end, she felt like she had no other choice but to call him out on social media. “You’re a f*cking weirdo! I’m sorry, you’re a f*cking weirdo. And I’m f*cking annoyed,” she said.
Moore’s Response
After Laura Harrier’s TikTok went viral, Shameik Moore posted a video apologizing for the “misunderstanding.” He said he only posted the video of him and Harrier because he thought it matched “the aesthetic of the song” he shared. “I mean no harm. I have no ill intent. It’s about art for me,” he explained, before clarifying he didn’t mean it to spark dating rumors. “[I] wasn’t insinuating no relationship. I apologize for the misunderstanding.”
Both Laura Harrier and Shameik Moore have since deleted their videos.
