LeBron James recently had some inspiring words of wisdom for young basketball phenomenon Caitlin Clark. Clark has started her professional career with the Indiana Fever. However, things have not been going so hot. The Fever have started the season off 0-5. Clark had 10 turnovers in her WNBA debut, and the team is struggling. However, James wants the young athlete to know that he has actually been in her shoes before.
According to TMZ, James was recently on the podcast of former NBA player J.J. Redick. Redick has also been a name to watch for the head coaching job of the Los Angeles Lakers. The two spoke about Clark’s situation, and The King had some advice.
“I think for my advice to Caitlin, and my advice to anyone coming in with this level of notoriety, ‘out of this world’ expectation — be a horse,” James said on the ‘Mind the Game’ podcast… “Put your blinders on. Go to work. Show up to work. Punch yo’ clock in. Prepare yourself. Work on your game, work on your craft.”
LeBron James has literally been in this exact situation. Back in 2003, after James was drafted to his hometown, Cleveland Cavaliers, the team started out at 0-5. LeBron also had some comments about the Fever’s slow start. LBJ stated that the Fever have had the number one overall pick for the past two seasons.
This means they are not very good. James believes that fans should cut Caitlin Clark some slack, as championship-caliber teams are not built overnight. However, this team needs to come together and make some changes to get into the win column soon.
LeBron James is a four-time NBA champion, the man knows what he’s talking about. Caitlin Clark needs to soak up all of this information as it could be a game-changer for her and the Indiana Fever. Can Indiana turn things around? Only time will tell as Clark continues to develop her game.
