Over two months since the news of Liam Payne‘s death made headlines in October, fans are still seeking justice for his tragic passing. Since reports say the singer was acting up in a hotel lobby just before falling to his death from a balcony, many believe his death could have been prevented if someone had simply helped him. It’s possible they were right. According to TMZ, five people have been charged in connection with the incident, including one of Payne’s close friends and several hotel staff members.

One Step Closer to Justice

The publication reports that Payne’s friend Rogelio “Roger” Nores was one of the people charged. After traveling together to Buenos Aires, Argentina, the pair had allegedly kept in frequent contact during the trip. They had even seen each other several times on the day of Payne’s death. The last time they reportedly made contact was just an hour before his tragic fall. Although Nores claimed he “never abandoned” the One Direction star, he has since been charged with negligent homicide for Liam Payne’s death.

“I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened. There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left,” Nores told the Daily Mail in November. “I could have never imagined something like this would happen.”

Nores is reportedly banned from leaving Argentina while the investigation surrounding Liam Payne’s death continues.

Four employees from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel have also been charged. Among them were waiter Braian Paiz and an employee named Ezequiel Pereyra, who were both charged with supplying narcotics. Authorities say they each gave Payne drugs. Paiz also confessed to using cocaine and other drugs with Payne prior to his passing.

TMZ also reports that hotel managers Gilda Martin and Esteben Grassi have been charged with manslaughter. The pair, along with Paiz, Pereyra, and Nores, have all been summoned to appear in court.

The Day of Liam Payne’s Death

The charges come over two months after Liam Payne’s death. The “Teardrops” singer tragically passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. Shortly before it happened, the star caused several disturbances in the hotel lobby. One of those incidents involved Payne smashing his laptop. Despite appearing unwell, Payne was repeatedly sent back to his hotel room, where he later died alone. He was just 31 years old.
