It sounds like the wedding planning for Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi is going smoothly. According to Brown’s Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine, the couple has picked out an officiant for their upcoming nuptials. So, who will be declaring them husband and wife? It’ll be none other than Modine himself.
Matthew Modine Will Officiate Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi’s Wedding
Modine has played Dr. Martin Brenner (aka “Papa”) in Stranger Things since 2016. Most of his scenes have been with Brown, who plays Eleven on the show. Considering they’ve acted alongside each other for nearly a decade, it’s no wonder they’ve become friends off-screen. So, when Brown discovered that Modine was ordained, she knew she had to ask him to officiate her wedding. In an interview with Access, Modine explained:
I have one of those licenses to get people married and Millie thought it’d be great and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife.

The Oppenheimer actor revealed he officiated a wedding before, and he really enjoyed the experience. He thinks it’s “such a beautiful thing” to help people join “in holy matrimony.”
Brown and Bongiovi have been together since 2021. They first sparked dating rumors in June before confirming their relationship in November. Since then, the couple has made several red-carpet appearances together, including the season four premiere of Stranger Things.
After dating for two years, Brown and Bongiovi announced their engagement in April 2023 with a black-and-white photo of the pair embracing. They each had a big smile on their faces as they showed off Brown’s engagement ring to the camera. The Damsel actress included a Taylor Swift lyric in her caption that read:
I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.
