LeBron James has officially turned 40 years old! James, through 22 seasons in the NBA, has become arguably the best player to ever play the game of basketball. However, despite that, LBJ turning 40 may mark one thing that is to come. That would be The King’s retirement. However, while Father Time is definitely catching up to James right now, The King is focused on getting his Lakers where they need to go. James seems locked in while basketball fans react to the face of the NBA turning 40 years old.
The L.A. Times reports that LeBron James turning 40 and still playing at such a high level is absolutely incredible. The longevity that basketball fans are seeing out of LBJ may never be seen in another player ever again. James, at 40 years old, is still a threat to dominate on any given night. LeBron is still putting up triple-doubles and still looks like the LeBron that defeated the 73-9 Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. Doing what he is doing at his age has fans going nuts. “What a remarkable performance,” stated one fan on social media.

However, even more basketball fans took to Twitter to talk about The King’s birthday.
“What a remarkable performance,” said one.
“22 seasons in the NBA, and he’s still chasing MJ? Pathetic,” wrote another.
Finally, another fan said, “Being able to play the game he loves at the highest level for more than half of his life, you were an inspiration.”
It would seem as though, despite James having plenty of positive birthday messages, some basketball fans are sick of seeing The King everywhere all the time.
LBJ has accomplished a lot in his 22 seasons in the NBA. For example, James has four championship rings. Two with the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and one with the Los Angeles Lakers. On top of that, LeBron also has four Finals MVP awards as well as four League MVP awards. The list goes on and on. However, arguably the most impressive thing The King has done is share the court with his oldest son, Bronny James, who was drafted to the Lakers this season.
LeBron James has been somewhat open about retirement. Number 23 has spoken on the matter a few times just this season. However, James will not confirm or deny anything, he just made it clear that it is coming soon. With James having a player option after this season and with the Lakers struggling. Fans may see Bron play out the rest of his NBA career with a new team.
When the time comes for LeBron James to hang up the jersey for good, a huge hole will be left in the world of sports, and who knows if it will ever get filled again? James has truly shown the world what it means to be the face of the NBA for 22 years and counting.
