Prince Harry fell out with King Charles and the rest of the royals on account of a long-held grievance against Queen Camilla. The Duke of Sussex’s strained relationship with the royal family is no news, especially with the media digging further into the messy royal situation by the day. In his book, Spare, Harry described Queen Camilla as a “villain,” also highlighting her role in the demise of his parents’ marriage. However, his actions only served to blur any hopes of a reconciliation with his dad.
According to royal author Christopher Andersen, this attack on Queen Camilla’s reputation and personality is exactly why King Charles drew the line with his son Prince Harry. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Christopher divulged,
“When Harry branded his stepmother Camilla a ‘villain’ in his book and revealed that both he and William initially begged their father not to marry her, Harry committed what Charles regards as a cardinal sin.”
Going further, the royal author explained the gravity of the situation and why it had so much impact on the father-son relationship. This supposedly stems from an unwritten rule in the royal household that makes Queen Camilla off-limits even for the monarch’s children Prince Harry and Prince William. He shared,
“No one disses Camilla in royal circles and gets away with it. Not even a son of the King.”
While the then-affair between King Charles and Queen Camilla attracted ire from the British public decades back, Prince Harry resurrected these sentiments in his memoir by labeling Camilla as “the third person in the marriage” his mom talked about in her infamous BBC interview. The repercussion? An almost irreparable damage to the bond and trust between Harry and his dad.
Days back, People dug into just how damaged these ties have become. One insider told the outlet that things have become so bad that King Charles no longer takes Prince Harry’s phone calls, nor reply his messages. The source claimed,
“He gets ‘unavailable right now.’ His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the King’s health, but those calls go unanswered too.”
Amid the “complete silence” from the monarch, Harry’s brother Prince William has aligned with his dad. Hence, any hope of the Duke of Sussex reconciling with the monarch has become “distant at best.” This leaves the future of the Sussexes somewhat uncertain, as a lot depends on the fate of their relationship with the royals, from security arrangements to their overall perception in the eyes of the public.
