George Raymond Stevenson was born on May 25, 1964, in Lisburn, Ireland. He was born on a military base as his British father was a Royal Air Force pilot. His family moved to Lemington, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England when he was eight. He eventually moved to Cramlington. When he wanted to and had the means to pursue a career in acting, he studied at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Ray Stevenson died having a successful, varied career. In the ’90s, his starting roles were in The Dwelling Place, The Tide of Life, Band of Gold, and City Central. When starting in Hollywood in the 2000s, he landed his first major film, King Arthur. He continued that line of historical projects with Vikings and Rome. The film side of his career started picking up further with The Book of Eli, The Other Guys, and Thor, which resulted in him being its first two sequels, The Dark World and Ragnarok.
The star had a knack for playing villains. He was also the villain in Dexter season 7 as Isaak Sirko. He played the racist governor Scott Buxton in RRR.
