Recent legal troubles for Teresa Guidice’s husband, Luis, indicate the RHONJ might have made a costly mistake. No matter how hard Teresa Giudice tries, she invariably attracts trouble and drama in any move she makes. Teresa never seems to catch a break from her troubled past to her fractious relationship with her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga. All the constant drama has formed an endless loop around her. Nonetheless, Teresa has brought most of the problems on herself due to poor judgment.
Teresa’s Relationship With Luis
From the beginning, much skepticism surrounded Teresa’s second husband, Luis “Louie” Ruelas. Besides fans, even Teresa’s brother Joe Gorga felt something was off about Luis. Ahead of their marriage, which will feature in the RHONJ season 13 finale, Teresa contemplated foregoing a prenup. However, her brother vehemently kicked against the idea.
Joe felt she was just beginning to get her life back on track after exiting prison. Teresa had served some time in jail due to shady business with her ex-husband Joe Giudice. The RHONJ star found herself in debt and needed to protect herself. However, Teresa responded by taking her brother’s name off the guest list for her wedding. She then married Luis without signing a prenup.
However, recent revelations about Luis’ business may prove a costly mistake for RHONJ star Teresa. According to All About The Tea, Luis’ company Digital Media Solution is being investigated by a prominent law firm, Glancy Prongay & Murray LLP, for allegedly violating state laws. This comes after three complaints were filed against the company in 2021.
Additionally, Luis’ business hasn’t been doing too well recently. The company stock experienced a sharp decline from $3.44 to .62 cents within the last year. After the revelations, fans revisited the prenup issue and felt Teresa made a big mistake not signing it.
RHONJ Fans Believe Luis Has Always Behaved Sketchy
Since fans met Luis during season 11 of RHONJ, there has been constant controversy around him. Besides his incessant legal battles, Luis’ ex-fiance also filed a lawsuit against him. She accused him of abusive and controlling behavior.
There was also the discovery of a video that captured him alongside several shirtless men begging his ex-fiance to give him another chance. Although Luis explained that away, it inevitably led to him stepping down from the marketing and media company he started.
Additionally, Luis previously filed for $1 million bankruptcy after a produce company filed a lawsuit against one of his companies. For many of the show’s fans, there are just one too many question marks on Luis’ personality. Nonetheless, the recent revelations proved the suspicions.
On Reddit, RHONJ fans revisited the prenup issue when a particular user Magicrowds recently posted a thread alongside the tagline, “Teresa and Luis prenup.” Most RHONJ fans were quick to point out that Luis was running the same scam that led Jen Shah to prison, and it wouldn’t be long before he also got Teresa into some hot water. While highlighting Luis’ fake life, one Redditor, wildcatlady74 wrote,
“He buys fake Cartier, he’s running the same scam Jen Shah just went to prison for, he can’t even afford his own pyjamas. It won’t be long before they both end up in prison.”
Another user, throwawaygremlins, said,
“Because he appears to be shady (see today’s news), and we, the viewers, don’t want to see her tied up w financially shady crap again.”
RHONJ Teresa Should Have Protected Herself

Many RHONJ fans couldn’t hide their disappointment at Teresa’s failure to protect herself. Giving all she went through in the past with her ex-husband Joe Giudice. In 2013, the former couple was indicted on 39 counts of “conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications, and bankruptcy fraud.”
Although Teresa initially claimed she wouldn’t plead guilty, the duo made a U-turn. Eventually, they entered a guilty plea to 41 counts of fraud on March 4, 2014. Teresa was sentenced to a 15-month jail term in Connecticut’s Danbury Federal Correctional Institution. However, she was released after serving 11 months due to good behavior.
Since then, she has worked very hard to rebuild her image and pay off all the debts she accrued. So, fans couldn’t hide their disappointment that she didn’t do more to protect herself, given her previous experience with her ex-husband. On the Reddit thread, fans noted how her previous marriage left her in serious debt, and now she seems to be towing the same line.
Some other RHONJ fans seemed to be in disbelief regarding Teresa’s naivety. They highlighted Teresa’s past run-ins with the law and how she has worked hard to rebuild herself after exiting prison. However, they feared she might just have entangled herself with a shady personality, and that mistake might just come back to haunt her.
Nonetheless, no evidence supports the claims that Luis committed fraudulent activities yet. However, there are so many things off about her current husband, and Teresa will be wise to start weighing up the options to protect her finances, if not for herself but for her daughters.
