Rihanna, 36, already shares two sons, RZA, 23 months, and Riot, 8 months, with partner A$AP Rocky, but that won’t stop her from expanding their family further. When stylist Mel Ottenberg asked Rihanna how many more kids she intended to have, she told Interview Magazine, “As many as God wants me to have.”
Ottenberg sought an elaboration and asked if Rihanna expected more than two. The nine-time Grammy Award winner said she would try for a daughter, but she’s open to whatever happens. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
In 2021, A$AP Rocky confirmed that he and Rihanna were in a relationship. Just under a year later, the couple confirmed they were expecting their first child, which would be RZA Athelaston Mayers. During 2023’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show, Rihanna confirmed that she was pregnant with their second child, who would be Riot Rose Mayers.
In March, Rihanna spoke to Vogue China about how she strives for individuality and uniqueness with both her professional career and motherhood.
“The most beautiful thing…is that [children] come into the world with their own individuality and sincerity, without any logic or conformity, which usually makes you feel that you must fit into a certain group,” she said.
She continued, “It’s really beautiful to see and I want to continue to help them navigate that and make sure that they know they can be whoever they want to be…they should embrace it completely, because it’s beautiful, and it’s unique. I love them just that way.”
In an interview with Page Six in November, Rihanna shared how her relationship with Rocky has changed (for the better) since they became parents.
“I love him differently as a dad. This is major, major…it’s a turn on,” she told the outlet. “It’s just like, wow. What a leader, what a great, patient loving…and my kids are obsessed with him.”
Rihanna previously dated singer Chris Brown from 2007 to 2009 following domestic abuse allegations. They briefly rekindled in 2013 while Brown was on probation, before finally calling it quits for good that same year.
As for Rocky, he previously dated fellow singer Iggy Azalea from 2011 to 2012, model Chanel Iman from 2013 to 2014, then Rihanna, whom he calls the “love of his life.”
