After just one year, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan are no longer an item. The couple reportedly called off their sizzling romance to literally chase the bag. News about Carpenter and Keoghan, who sparked dating rumors last December, was confirmed by an insider, saying to PEOPLE:
“They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.”
The actor and the Espresso singer first met during Paris Fashion Week when they both attended a Givenchy show. From there, the former couple began rooting for one another in their careers and on social media. Keoghan was especially fond of leaving warm comments under Carpenter’s social media posts.
The movie star was in the crowd during her Coachella set this past April. He also flexed his acting skills when he starred in her Please Please Please music video in June. Carpenter later confessed that casting Keoghan was convenient as he sat right next to her at the fashion show. She revealed that the British actor welcomed the idea and was completely excited about the project.
The former couple regularly praised each other and as recently as last month, Keoghan did just that. The Saltburn actor expressed how “proud” he was of Carpenter while appearing on The Jess Cagle Show. He described her six nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards as “absolutely brilliant.” The star also boasted that he knew Carpenter’s hit track was headed for greatness while working on the video. The actor praised Carpenter’s work ethic and her standards. He raved about how she is laser-focused on her vision and always “knows what she wants.”
Sabrina Carpenter Sparked Controversy After Display on Stage
Carpenter cannot seem to get out of the news these days. We shared that the singer received significant backlash over her performance on the Short n’ Sweet tour. Carpenter’s tour has kept her busy performing in shows around the United States and North America. She did her big one, wrapping up the U.S. leg with twin shows at the Kia Forum.
The outcry came after her November 18 show in Los Angeles, where she simulated a raunchy performance on stage. It was not the singer’s first time as she always acts out an intimate bedroom scene when performing Juno. While adding spice to her moves is familiar, some fans felt she went overboard. Carpenter got down on her knees, pulled back her hair, and performed sexual tricks with her microphone.
Internet users were not pleased with her conduct due to the high number of young children in the audience. Some fans claimed the singer was on the verge of starting an OnlyFans career with the performance. Another accused her of not thinking about the little children who “look up to her” as a role model. One commenter wondered if her shows were “just sex ed.”
Sabrina Carpenter’s Remaining Tour Stops
The backlash aside, Carpenter has had a great year touring cities and countries. After completing her North American leg, she has embarked on a four-month break. The star will reportedly get back on the road in March 2025 across Europe. Her first two concerts next year will occur in Dublin, Ireland, on March 3 and 4.
The star will also perform in England, Scotland, France, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. She will then take the final bow on her tour in Italy on March 26. The 25-year-old, however, remains booked and busy for the festive season. Her highly-anticipated Netflix special “A Nonsense Christmas” premieres on Friday, December 6.
Judging by her itinerary, Sabrina Carpenter is truly “career-focused!”
