In a statement which all but confirmed their breakup, Don, who began dating Kimberly in 2018 and became engaged in 2020, admitted he could not be more proud of her for scoring such an important role in his dad’s administration. While he did not expressly admit to or state the reason for their breakup, the 46-year-old made it clear no bad blood existed between them, saying,
“Kimberly and I will never stop caring for each other and will always keep a special bond.”
He went on to slam those “taking baseless and petty fake news cheap shots” at his ex-fiance, saying they were simply embarrassing themselves. Going further, Donald Trump Jr. lauded Kimberly Guilfoyle, and her contribution to his dad’s reelection bid, saying,
“She’s been an undefeated prosecutor, national TV news star, a leader of the MAGA movement, and close advisor to the president. The people of Greece are getting an absolute star and now the whole world will see it more than ever.”
Don explained how “no one on Team Trump has worked harder” than his ex-fiance throughout Trump’s presidential campaign, making her the most deserving of the ambassadorship. Despite his bid to avoid discussing the state of their relationship, multiple insiders have confirmed Donald Trump Jr’s split from Kimberly Guilfoyle and the reason behind it.

Speaking to Us Weekly, one source noted that the two broke up before the elections but chose to keep mum about it to avoid stirring the attention away from other “important issues.” The source claimed their breakup was amicable, and the duo has continued to maintain a friendly relationship post-split. Hinting at the reason behind Don Jr. and Kimberly’s broken engagement, the insider spilled,
“They just had different goals.”
Another source, who spoke to People suggested that the president-elect never favored his son’s romance with Kimberly despite their close family ties. Hence, in Don Jr’s bid to impress Donald Trump, he decided to discard Kimberly Guilfoyle in favor of someone more “impressive” like his rumored new girlfriend Bettina Anderson. The source divulged,
“Don Jr. has always wanted to look good in his father’s eyes,” the source said. “Someone like Bettina, who is and has been a model, and is in Waspy circles of Palm Beach is something that would impress him.
Regardless, Kimberly seems unfazed by the apparent betrayal despite claims that she wasn’t easy to deal with thanks to her “very direct, very matter of fact” approach. Somehow, this validates speculations that Donald Trump’s decision to bestow the ambassadorship on his son’s ex was simply a “peaceful sendoff of sorts,” aimed at compensating her for the breakup.
