The details about Todd Chrisley’s prison conditions have been brought to light. Sadly, the television personality hasn’t had the most comfortable stay behind bars. Recall that earlier in 2023, Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were thrown in jail after they were found guilty of multiple fraud charges. A few months later, Todd Chrisley’s attorney, Jay Surgent, has now opened up about how things are with his client in prison. According to the lawyer, Todd’s prison conditions are very horrible.
Inside Todd Chrisley’s Prison Conditions
Todd Chrisley’s prison conditions are allegedly worse than his fellow inmates, despite the disgraced star’s celebrity status. On Friday, Surgent revealed to TMZ that his client was convinced being a celebrity was part of the reasons he experienced some odd occurrences in jail. According to the attorney, Todd said his photo might have been stolen while he was asleep. The Chrisley Knows Best star further claimed that he wasn’t getting any mail, leading him to believe they were getting destroyed. Next, Todd Chrisley’s attorney went into detail about the horrible state of the Federal Prison Camp, Pensacola, in Florida.
He told the outlet the facility had bad plumbing, possible mold, and no air conditioning, leaving inmates to suffer the terrible heat. What’s more, Julie wasn’t having it any easier. According to the report, she was facing similar conditions at FMC, Lexington. But while the prison conditions are way below standard, Todd and Julie’s safety are assured. According to a representative for the Bureau of Prisons, the inmates’ priority takes top priority. Also, both the FPC, Pensacola, and FMC, Lexington, have “contingency plans” to solve many concerns, including ventilation temperatures. Meanwhile, Surgent revealed that Todd applied for a switch to home confinement. However, it is unknown if the request will be considered.
Todd Chrisley’s Children Talk About Their Parents’ Prison Conditions
Todd Chrisley’s attorney’s report comes shortly after the television personality’s children shared a similar update. During Tuesday’s episode of the Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast, Savannah and her brother Chase spoke about Julie and Todd Chrisley’s prison conditions. The pair noted that the prisons had black mold and asbestos, adding that Julie’s jail even had snakes. According to Chase, inmates were given mace and pepper spray to tackle the reptiles.
The siblings also pointed out the absence of air conditioning. They noted that it was insane as the temperature in both states could get up to 100 degrees. Overall, they described the living conditions as “unfit for purpose” and “a nightmare.” Unfortunately, Todd and Julie might have to live in such conditions for long, as they only just began serving their 12- and seven-year sentences.
