Wendy Williams is the name on fans’ tongues following the arrest of Sean Diddy Combs. The rapper was picked up on Monday evening on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The streets of the Internet have since broken into celebration over Diddy’s arrest. However, they can’t help but remember how Williams predicted this day would come.
On X, formerly called Twitter, fans clamored for Williams’ return to the spotlight to cover the downfall of her arch-enemy. Recall that the iconic talk show host has been out of commission due to health issues that caused the end of The Wendy Williams Show in 2022. “I wish Wendy Williams was still on TV for this Diddy arrest. She’d have come on stage and stared at us for a full minute like….,” desired one fan. Another fan penned, “TUH today of all days is where I miss Wendy Williams. I know her Hot Topics segment would have been PIPPIN HOTTTTT.” A third comment read:
“I miss Wendy Williams and I hope that she is well. Her show would’ve been so good during this Diddy takedown era…”
Others celebrated how Wendy Williams always expressed displeasure about Diddy’s lifestyle, especially his relationship with Cassie. “I hope someone is telling Wendy Williams that she was so right about Diddy and everything else,” declared one user. “I wish Wendy Williams still had her show to speak on Diddy. A part of me feels like he had something to do with her demise. She constantly called him and those like him out,” a second fan remarked. A third comment read, “Wendy Williams has been telling us about Diddy for years. Everything done in the dark will eventually come to the light.”
What Did Wendy Williams Say About Diddy?
Wendy Williams and Diddy’s feud dates back to 1997 when the former radio personality called out the rapper. During an episode of her radio show Hot 97, she alleged that the Bad Boys record founder instructed members of the girl group Total, signed to his label, to physically assault her. “Once upon a time, there was a music mogul who sent his all-girl group to beat my ass in front of the radio station. Fact!” she said. Following her confession, Willaims was fired from the station the next year. She has since maintained that Diddy had something to do with it.
When Willams later found success through her eponymous talk show, she didn’t hesitate to air his dirty laundry. On her show, she often commented on his relationship with Cassie, calling out the power imbalance. The TV personality alluded to control issues from the rapper — something that would later be confirmed in Cassie’s lawsuit. “My thing about when you date a mogul, it’s really difficult to avoid them,” she said on her show per US Weekly. “He can hire a plane right now … land on the roof of the hotel she’s staying, pay people off at the front desk, ‘Give me a key and let me up in her room.” Williams also claimed Diddy treated Cassie “like a possession.”
